Liberty Lake in Nevada’s Ruby Mountains, Sept 20, 2015, from Liberty Pass, elevation 10,000+ feet. Cloudless azure sky, no wind, warm air, fall approaching. Photo taken by Cowboy John @ www.cowboyjohntours.com
Liberty Lake is the opposite end of the Rubies from Harrison Pass, the drop-off point for the Crest Trail hike. There’s good fishing, by the way, in Favre Lake just before Liberty.)
Last elevation gain on the Crest Trail hike is the ascent from Liberty Lake to Liberty Pass which is 10,000+ ft. Stop for a bit on the Pass and glance back where you’ve been–beautiful view of the Rubies and, indeed, one of the prettiest views of our world. A great picture to store in your memory for future reference.
Hope to see some of the Crest hikers again. My favorite part of shuttling for the Crest Trail is meeting interesting folks who appreciate nature and love being outside.
