I shuttled Kathryn and Chuck to Harrison Pass July 3, for their hike in the Ruby Mountains. The following Monday they told us about their adventure!
“We ran into a hail/rain/lightening storm with heavy winds just as we reached the hike down into Overland Lake. Thank God for the shelter of the cabin as we were drenched when we arrived. We were able to build a fire and get warm and dry.”
I watched the mountain all week wondering how they had faired through what looked like a serious storm. Elko and Spring Creek were getting heavy rains and thunder/lightening the same time. Kathryn and Chuck said they and other hikers on the trail decided to take Overland Trail down into Ruby Valley instead of staying up on top. They had a whole different experience going down the other side of the Ruby Mountains, the limestone side, and ended their report with, “We will return to hike again!”
