I shuttled 3 hikers, Steve, EM, and son Christopher, to Harrison Pass for the Ruby Crest Trail hike September 9, 2015. They camped in the campground and enjoyed an Island-Lake hike the day before I met them at the turnaround for the big hike. Janice and I have taken that 2 mile hike numerous times;  [read more…]

Bill, Lori and Steve's Ruby Crest Trail Hike

I shuttled three hikers July 17 to the Ruby Crest Trail. Bill, Lori, and Steve are avid hikers of the Sierra mountains so will be comparing “our”  [read more…]

Cowboy John Elko Tour With Mike Ostler

Cowboy John Elko Tour With Mike Ostler

Guests driving from Salt Lake City to Reno, wonder what could possibly be interesting in small-town Elko. There’s nothing flat, lifeless, dry brush, and boredom when Nevada is seen from the freeway. Why would anyone want to live here? Why would anyone want to visit? There’s obviously nothing to do here! But, July 14, I  [read more…]

Joe and Mark's Ruby Crest Trail Hike

I shuttled Joe from Alaska, and Mark from Reno to Harrison Pass for their Ruby Crest Trail hike. Experienced backpackers they planned a full week for the hike, with the intent of enjoying the flora and fauna on their way. The Ruby Mountains are part of Nevada’s “basin and range” topography: mountain ranges separated by wide sagebrush basins. Mountain ranges  [read more…]
